Three V3 8 Team Bracket Friday 15 21 UTC Saturday 16 March 19 UTC

i need feedback:

I picked orange but i am open for color combos as well

latest development

latest phase

First these all look good so thanks!

Tag Line maybe “Summer 2019” “July 2019” “August 2019”

The red one looks good but maybe a different red on The “V” and the MWLL blend into the background a bit hard to read.
The 2nd orange rectangle one stands out well.

Time is getting tight to due the original July 12,13 launch. I think the best guess right now for the next full tournament is 14-27 July or a second window of August 3-17. I have to review my schedule to narrow down specific weekends. I hope to narrow a preferred set of weekends soon.

Maps (prefer all custom)

TSA Jungle
TSA IceArena
TSA DustbowlArena?

TC Frontlines?
TC Militarybase?
TC New Avalon?
TSA Badlands? (big)
TSA Carbon? (sorta big)

No to TC SolarisA (buggy spawns)
TC KoTH?
TSA River? (very big for this)

Format Mostly Puretech Tech v Same Tech

IS vs IS
Clan vs Clan
No Clan vs IS
Limited All Tech

Tons Similar but changed, 5 brackets rather than 3.

Possibly maybe testing cbill limit + ton limit

IE

200K entire team 200 ton limit

Worried about this taking too much time, maybe test then if works do it for the Fall tourney.

sorry for the screen space hijack

Deulist, During SA practice we’ve been testing map sizes and new formats and have found a few that are both fast and easy to do.

For maps: we’ve found that pretty much any map smaller than death valley or that one canyon map with the short day Nighy cycle works well even for 3v3. The larger maps also allow for longer range engagements to take place which is a good change!

I’d seriously consider using all the good Chaos March maps, even if you think they’re too big they really work well.

For formats:

We recently trialed “c-bills per player” format and it worked beautifully. Basically you give the teams 3 cbill abouts to spend on mechs with no trading allowed. For example “59, 000 75, 000 105, 000”. When we did this we actually found we didn’t need to limit tech bases that much because the player base would often make hard decisions between cheaper IS stuff at higher tons or more expensive clan stuff at lower tons.

Just with the figures above you could be looking at pumas, Hollander, uziels, cougars or tanks at the 59, 000 bracket. Or bushies, scats, rifleman or catapults at the 79,000 bracket. Or awesome, rommels, demos, madcats, thors, thannys at the 105,000 level.

It really adds some great diversity into the lists and is a bit more balanced than just tonnage.

I’ll post back on your proposal later. Chaos tested a very basic version of it tonight.

July is preferred by players for the event. Backup date might be August 3.

I wanted to make a longer more eloquent post. Thanks for the well though out and detailed feedback. I have to get a bit further along in the setup before addressing the limiters.

I’ll sleep on the ideas. There is sufficient time to test changing the limiters and maps. Simplicity leads to conservative choices so far in the past tournaments. Cbill limits are be a possibility for July, and definitely for “Fall” 3v3. I appreciate the idea.

Priority at the moment is setting the date as I need to clear my schedule for that entire weekend.

Summer nay be a hard time for us to get the optimum eight teams.

I’ll have to get everything lined up before we close in on a final format on the limiters. But I think a decision can be made in the next two weeks.

@fire-hound This latest batch looks good. It is readable and stylish. Plus this is a good branding image for the events. I will try to set the actual date this week. These images are already good without dates in them. Maybe a single “event specific” poster once I have the info. Thanks.

I would also consider doing what you did for us in letting us choose the maps. One team chooses 2 maps, the other chooses 2 maps, with the last map being a constant.

For example the map rotation might look like this

Game 1: Clan pick
Game 2: IS pick
Game 3: TSA Jungle
Game 4: IS pick
Game 5: Clan pick.

Also suggest getting announced sooner rather than later. July/august isnt that far away and people may need to book time off work/ get players organised. As soon as you manage to get a date for yourself just tell us and we’ll pass it on

@Glarrg I’ll decide later tonight between Fri 19 Sat 20 OR Fri 28 Sat 29. Championship match either the Sunday 21 OR 22 or following Saturday like before. Backup date is August 6 if rain date is needed. I have a tough schedule next month so I have to be certain I can clear time.

The ThreeV3 Returns 26 Friday July and 27 Saturday July. A new map rotation, further focus on puretech, and certain maps with a Cbill limiter combine to freshen up the experience. The bracket aims for eight teams with six coming from units. Four servers each with a supervisor will speed action along. A dedicated announcing team will bounce between matches to provide commentary. Multiple live streams provide blanket coverage of the tournament. The Championship round will be held on 3 August should time necessitate it. More detailed information coming this weekend. Start forming teams and signup here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1iMEXEU-i4a3SiUk-qDpiDoL9JRjrQ_0lyk_qLAaND00/edit?usp=sharing

I will make the official announcement later today. I could use some eyeballs looking over the sign up sheet or offering advice on the way we announce it.

The format is left open for now.

Initial teaser announcement made at MWLL forums.

The C Bill limiter could be simplified to a single per player limit like 75k for every player this map. I also understand now it is meant to be a static limit. This is a different interpretation than the test last Sunday.

Map 1 Frostbite Player Limits 54k 64k 74k
Then the teams choose which pilot uses which limit.

Ok I think I get this now. I am still working on the format, deciding between balance of tons limit maps and trying to get some cbills limits.

Im about to start streaming the Star Adder vs CJF scrims where we use the same format. Have a watch here to watch:

The vod of the night will also be up

So this is what I got for format right now. Feedback appreciated. I am open to more or different weight limits, less tons more Cbills limits, and outright map substitution. I need to publsh this by midweek.

Round 1
TSA Jungle Mixed Tech 160 Tons
TsA IceArena IS Tech 255 Tons
TSA DustbowlArena 59K 74K 90K
TSA Badlands IS Tech 105 Tons
TSA Carbon Clan Tech 210 Tons

Round 2
TSA Helsgate IS Tech 210 Tons
TSA Glory Clan Tech 160 Tons
TSA Koth (TSA Forsaken backup) 82K 113K 49K
TSA SolarisA IS Tech 255 Tons
TSA Alshain Mixed Tech 105 Tons

Championship
TSA IceArena 128K 98K 54K
TSA Glory IS Tech 105 Tons
TSA Badlands IS Tech 255 Tons
TSA Helsgate Mixed Tech 160 Tons
TSA Jungle Clan Tech 210 Tons

Third Place

TSA Badlands Clan Tech 255 Tons
TSA Alshain Clan Tech 210 Tons
TSA Jungle 82K 98K 105K
TSA Forsaken Mixed Tech 160 Tons
TSA SolarisA IS Tech 105 Tons

Publically suggesting that each drop have 1-2 less puretech sets, and replace them with CBill caps. Cbills are very much self-regulating.

Come have fun with your friends and units in a fast paced solaris team event. A double elimination bracket with 4, 6, or 8 teams. Come by Friday for matches for teams that cannot play Saturday. There will also be a push to populate the public servers as well. Pilots that cannot make our normal weekend events can take battle. The main event is on Saturday. Teams are to report in a bit early to help get organized. Pilots can sign up early if desired to help planning. Sign up as a full 3 player team or as a team captain. You can also just show up and ask to be assembled into a team with spots open.

Defeat your randomly seated enemy team in a best 3 of 5 match on TSA Glory, Helsgate, and Jungle. The expanded map rotation now includes TSA Alshain Badlands, Carbon, Forsaken, IceArena, and KoTH. The bracket will feature an active livestream with commentary and a third place match. Voice comms are required for organization on teamspeak. Teams are free to use their own comms server once instructions for the match have been assigned.

Each campaign will feature Clan vs Clan tech and IS vs IS tech only. This will be in addition to a simple tonnage limit for most matches. New this tournament is a cbill limit for each pilot on select maps. BV will not be in effect. Drop calcs will be available but not required. Matches will take place simultaneously to speed things along. Each server will have an event representative to ensure timely proceedings and that rules are followed. Standard accepted “Chaos” league rules will govern in game matches. All ground assets will be available once per team battle. So sure use that long tom, but you only get it once each round.

Matches will last 15 minutes with a target of 5 minutes or less down time for preparation. A team that is eliminated continues battle for a chance at the third place matchup. A full 8 teams on 2-4 servers should wrap up in around 5 hours or so. The Championship round has a rain date of 28 July or 3 August should time run over.

Please use the online spreadsheet to sign up as a team or an individual looking for placement. Registration on the day of the event is also fine but please arrive early if possible. The event is being kept small in scope to focus on speed and quality.

Captains for mercenary teams.

Full teams for declared units.

Best 3 of 5.

Puretech on some maps.

Thursday slot for teams that cannot make Saturday.

Simultaneous matches to save time if possible.

Limited drop calc and restrictions.

Third place match and championship match.

Purposely small tournament to concentrate on speed and quality.

Teamspeak or discord voice comms required to speak to event organizers.

Seeding either random or who can make what time.

Good opportunity to battle other units without major commitment.

Multiple persons in charge to spread workload and minimize mistakes.

More details coming soon.

Also I need to make a short “Why Play” section.
And need to get hopefully 8 teams.
And confirm my 3 other supervisors.
And confirm my “announcing” team.
And get links to the other livestreams.
And bug Rickhunter and Haarp? for ThreeV3 server setup to compiment HPG THreeV3.
And I need to update the THreeV3 server files.
And finalize the Heartless teams.
And do a “dry run” in Chaos.

We could use a Europe based server. I’ll check around. See if anybody can find out if we can get a hold of one. Even a home based server would work.

1 Server 12VR

duelist server
bear server
and maybe domkek?

What would you think of just making all the tonnage based clantech matches mixtech? 90% of the tonnage mixtech assets are going to be clan anyways, so giving a few more opportunities to see IS stuff on those wouldn’t hurt.

Also, in an emergency I could probably host a server, I’d need a list of console commands for changing maps and stuff though. The only commands I know are the two on the wiki for setting up the cbill button.
