Have you tried MWLL on Linux under Steam Proton?
not yet, it’s a i5 2520 this laptop and my free time all goes to that secret map can’t tell more about 
but other than that, linux seems ever better for MWLL - dxvk and recent wine (4.10) seem to have surpassed the point of many issues
I get Crysis Wars running with one press of button in Steam. I load MWLL or point it to a MWLL folder I get black screen.

no mod works easy
modded one won’t
and editor is a far cry from working still (pun?) but it might happen in like half a year or so - actually
you have the full DX9 installed in that preffix?
